I have only one pass seat in the 80 so my reply won't be very helpful to the OP but having a kitchen box with drawers full of dishware, cookware and non perishables really help with a pooch in the cargo area. The OP probably has a cooler/fridge plus the usual gear in the cargo area so it'll be tight with a pooch and two kids!

A roof box or a roof rack and maybe a hitch rack might be able to accommodate the family plus gear. I gotta tell you one thing though, one year after my daughter was born, I was so sick of playing Tetris with a baby plus two dogs and all the crap that goes with it, I got a camper. Did the 80 like towing a 2600# camper over 11k mountain passes? Hell no, but I didn't care because camping with a trailer meant no more yard sales explosion, then implosion 🤟

Just you wait, you're heading that way too!!!
