How much AFT does the machine realy get out of the trany?
Do they first pull the drain for the trany or can they clean it all out without pulling the plug?
How much mixing goes on when they run the machine?

The fluid exchange machines that I have seen hold between 12 to 16 quarts. They are hooked up in series with the cooler lines so that the old is pumped out as the new is pumped in. I'm sure that some new fluid will hit the pan before all of the old has been pumped out but it does get a good deal of the old fluid out. In the case of a 442 and a machine that holds 12 quarts, you will not get all of the old out as the total capacity of the transmission is just over 16 quarts.

The one that we us can takes about 30 quarts. You compare the color of the ingoing and outcoming fluid in sight glasses. It takes anything from 16 to 20 quarts to get the fluids to look the same. Sometimes more if it is really dirty.

My dad-in-law brought in his own Amsoil for his Caddy and had it exchanged. I was woundering how much realy got exchanged?
