Hi there

Been trying to search through the posts....

Our 99 LC just hit the 140 K miles.
Is transmission fluid change a muet and recommended ?

Thanks

Jay

Yes. Drain and fill a few times and you'll be good. If you really want to go the extra mile, most parts stores will sell new filter (screens) with a new gasket. You'll have to drop the pan for that, but it's an easy job. FWIW I used Mobile 1 synthetic when I bought my 2000 with 152k miles. Trans drain and fill was the first thing I did.

On a totally different note.....As long as my tranny fluid smells good, looks good and at correct level, I never change it. My 100 has over 200k miles since I changed it with zero problems.

Some have claimed that swapping out trans fluid may cause issues.

I think those people change the fluid after the tranny has problem, and then blame new fluid change. imho, no fluid last forever, including transmission fluid.

Well, maybe I need to but with nearly 300K miles since my last change on one of my "96 LXs, I wonder how many miles I could get on that same tranny if I did change the fluid. Still pink and pretty...and tastes like strawberry koolaid.
