I'm having a transmission fluid exchange done today on my sealed A750f and want to watch the technician perform the procedure. What is the correct location to attach the machine? On the hoses near the transmission radiator?

Depends on the machine. Don't you trust the guy? Whats the rest of the story?

There is a ton of info on here and transmission fluids and flushes if you search.

is this procedure only doable at the dealership? or somewhere with the proper machine? Also, how much does this cost usually at the dealership?

OregonLC did an excellent write up on this topic. I followed his directions to the letter (sans dropping the pan) and had no difficulties at all during what was my first trans fluid exchange - ever.

Was that for the a750f tranny though? i thought it was for the 4spd

Cost me $224 for 12 quarts of WS + labor. Not too bad at all. Technician knew exactly what to do as I discussed it with him beforehand.

I declined the detergent additive.

The A750f is not sealed.

It doesn't have a dipstick like a A343. It does have a fill port, drain port, and overflow port for determining proper level.

I did a shade tree swap using a bucket, some vice grips, and a fill pump in my garage in under an hour to exchange my fluid on a 2007 LC. It's not hard at all. I disconnected an ATF cooler hose at the radiator to drain the fluid and refilled via the fill port from under the truck.

I also did the shadetree swap using a bucket and disconnecting the return hose to drain and refill 1-2 qts at a time last fall. I had about 27K miles and 2 years since the dealership had done a transmission fluid drain and refill. In my case I wasn't sure how much they had replaced, plus I just wanted to switch to Amsoil synthetics all the way around.

I used Amsoil ATF, approx. 12qts if I recall correctly.

With higher mileage vehicles, many places (such as Jiffy Lube, a local mechanic I've been going to for years, etc.) do not recommend a transmission flush. The shadetree approach only uses the transmission's own pump to get the old fluid out.

I had about 60k on it. I went with AMSOIL Low-Viscosity ATF (for the A750). I used about 14-qts in total to get clean fluid coming out. My MPG went up about 8% on average (with AMSOIL in engine, diffs, XF case, and trans). Cost was about $170, IIRC.
