I had a @CruiserBrothers trans cooler installed and now my trans is running about 10 or so degrees hotter than the water temps. Before the install the temps were about the same.

I've put about 2K miles on it and will be getting serviced by @OverLand Cruisers in Bozeman and will get the trans fluid checked. Perhaps it is low. If not any ideas? I do not have any leaks .

Thanks

Is the new cooler before or after the radiator cooler lines? If it’s after maybe it’s picking up latent heat?

My temps went up about 10-15F when I re-geared. I’ve never really been able to explain that as you’d think with higher revs the system would be moving fluid faster and cooling better. Sometimes changes do the opposite of what we expect :-/

Odd. Can you give us more information? Did they replace the OEM aux cooler or did they add another one? Inline or parallel to the OEM cooler? Ducting? Picture might help.

I was thinking what @linuxgod mentioned too, and perhaps answers to to the above may help us understand if they reconfigured the trans cooler, pre or post, to the heat exchanger in the radiator.

It is an 200 Series specific auxiliary cooler. All the lines are being checked as well as the transmission thermostat for correct operation.
If its an auxiliary I'd start with lines and the t-stat (although it was working fine before it sounds like) and making sure the shop that installed it added enough additional coolant (not familiar with the unit so not sure about the volume).

The other thing though, and again, not familiar with the unit or installation instructions, would be placement.

Good luck and let us know how it plays out!

When I was planning for more aux tranny cooling, I had a lot of hesitations to outright replacing the stock cooler as a known quantity, i.e. didn't want to make cooling worse inadvertently. The stock aux cooler is well engineered and a substantial piece. It's 1.25" thick whereas a lot of aftermarket coolers are only 3/4" thick. I didn't want change the fluid flow characteristics with a cooler that had more flow resistance. Or impact how much air it received as the OEM duct is an important part of managing airflow through the aux cooler.

Without seeing the actual aftermarket cooler and it's installation, it's very possible some aspect of above has been impacted to the point it actually performs worse as you data is suggesting?

More detailed thoughts here:

I just returned from a 5K trip pulling my trailer. When I took the truck to my shop, the trans fluid was a little low. Once the oil was added, the trans ran very cool . It never went past 210 even pulling up hill.

My OEM setup pulling a 3k trailer across the Mojave at 107 degrees, the trans was max at 204. (well I have 488 gears)

The going up in the mountains 8k level trans ran cooler 190's .. though I did get fuel boil and had to pull over and let that de-pressurize.

What was you temps prior to this swap, as I've never run hotter than 204?

I'd get temps up to 215 . I haven't had any fuel boil since I had the charcoal cartage replaced under warranty.
