So I've got a case of while-you're-in-there-itis At 200K & 19 years I'm replacing the belts, vacuum and coolant hoses on my 93, putting on a 130A tundra alternator and starting the york install. I noticed that the transmission cooler hoses at the radiator are relatively easy to get at with all this stuff out. Asked about the trans cooler hoses at the local toyota dealer yersterday - $150 for the pair :censor::crybaby: I'm sure CDan can do better for me, but probably not *that* much better.

I've been doing some searching and found that people have used generic 3/8" tranny cooler hose. How's that been working out? A little concerned that the original hoses seem to have formed bends and some sort of wrapping on them.

Also noticed on the parts diagram that there is a pair of short soft lines further upstream. Haven't been under the truck to look yet -are these reasonable to get at? Assume the same 3/8" hose for these as welll?

I've used AN-6 blue push-on hose to replace oil cooler hoses on many Toyotas before. Remember that 3/8" hose is 9.5mm dia, and stock hose is 10mm so it's a fight fit. But AN-6 hose is much more reasonably priced. Don't use the braided stuff, use the blue push-on stuff. I'd re-use the spring clamps if you can get them to fit. Trans coolers are at relatively low pressure <30psi and the hose is rated for about 250psi working pressure.

Got the lines off. The old (original?) lines appear to be some sort of silicone, not rubber. And appear to be in good shape ... i'm a little torn whether to replace them with new rubber hose, but it is likely 19 year/200K miles old.

The sleeve/wrapping from the old hoses is easily pulled off and put on the new hoses. Appears to be important - one of the pieces was pretty heavily abraded.
