transmission bearing help (2 Viewers)

hey guys. i need some insight on the pto shaft output bearing (i think). i installed a 4 speed into a truck recently and am using several transmission/cases to mash up a complete running gear. the tranny/case im using came off of a small block chevy rig. it appears to be missing the large bearing that goes under the little dome cover on the pto gear shaft. i believe the bearing i need is highlighted in this photo, can someone help me verify? second question is, i looks like there is a little dinky bearing pressed into the area already, that i dont think should be there. its been a while since i tore apart my last case. is this common on SBC conversions?

the top picture shows the case im using, with some kind of bearing down inside the case housing. second pic is the bearing i believe should be here.

Some of the trans people use behind the sbc's dont have the long output shaft that goes thru to that bearing like the oem trans. The input gear is retained with a bolt threaded into the end of trans output shaft thus deleting the pto gear, spacer & bearing. Have no clue about the small bearing, possibly an inner race leftover ?

You need a straight cut PTO gear on the shaft behind the transfer case input gear in the picture. That is what suppose to be expose. Many four speeds had a spacer instead of the PTO gear. Bearing fits the in the transmission transfer case and transmission tail shaft thru the center.putting a bearing behind the input gear in an open space would not support anything.

I should clarify, I’m not running a PTO drive. I have the spacer installed inside the case. I just need the bearing that presses into the back of the case. I was just surprised to see that small bearing inside the case housing instead of the larger oem one. I DO have the second spacer and lock nut that goes behind the bearing. Is the bearing I highlighted in the last diagram correct?

Your picture doesn't really doesn't show clearing what your after. Only thing PTO related inside transfer case is the PTO gear. Your parts diagram is of a PTO that bolts to the transfer case. Nothing on that diagram is used in the transfer case. Pop the transfer case input geear out of the seal and take a good picture of inside looking back and the outside looking straight in.

Also no one can tell what your issue is using parts from different cases and not knowing what the date and three or four speed transmission bearing used. Would start by the date of the case your using.
