i attempted to pull my sbc, muncie and 3spd tc today...
i was unable to seperate either the tranny from the bellhousing or the tc from the adapter behind the transmission.
took all the bolts i could see out and it still would not seperate! took the large nut off the back off the tc under the small tail cone it has and still nothing budged!!

can someone give me some pointers, this is my first removal of a tranny and tc

thanks:wrench:

remove the gear on the back of the tranny?? entirely or bolts? as of right now there is a 1.5inch gap between the tran and tc, but they won't split further. i have yet to remove the 8 bolts mentioned above.

thank you HCC

What High Country Cruiser is saying is there are two bolts which hide inside the PTO cover on the t-case. Once you remove that you will discover two bolts inside. When you split the t-case from the tranny the t-case input gear which rides on the tranny output shaft will come off.

If you havent gotten the 2 bolts under the PTO cover I am really surprised you have a 1.5" gap. The 8 bolts hold the PTO cover on.

understood that, thanks guys..ill keep you posted.
