That’s your Speedometer cable. Looks like it just bound up and snapped.
You can buy replacements.
Wow, that explains why my speedometer hasn’t been working lmao, thank you so much Ben, like I said I’m learning as i go, appreciate all the help. I just assumed it had to do with the transfer case. Gonna order part and replace. Thanks!

Is that seriously where the factory exhaust goes? I see a heat shield so the question is rhetorical,
The covering the speedo cable is in I suspect was because of the heat generated by the exhaust.
So when you spend all the $$ on a new speedo cable I’d address the cause of the failure.
Suggest cleaning up the exhaust, put some high heat paint on it and then wrap the exhaust pipe with
exhaust wrap from local auto parts store. Keep the heat inside the exhaust where it belongs.

It might just be the angle, but is that one bolt on the PTO cover not turned in all the way?
Like I said, it might be an illusion. Just the way it looks

While you’re at it, replace the seal in the sleeve (9031009001) and the o-ring (9671124030) that fits around the body of the sleeve sub-assembly. Also, before you order, check the driven gear and consider replacing that as well. This is a really straightforward job, except for maybe getting the seal out of the bore which takes a bit of cajoling to pull the old seal out. Try not to mar the bore in the sleeve s/a if you do choose to replace the seal.
Go slowly and do post if you need anything else!
Also, go easy on the collar that threads down onto the transfer case if it’s more than finger tight and needs some persuasion from slip joints or something.

Yup, all original. Thank you for your input, ordered the exhaust manifold and manifold intake directly from toyota and going to get after market exhaust pipe. Also I order the speedo cable but gonna hold off on it till i do the exhaust.
