About two months ago while I was driving my 1986 JDM BJ70 SWB, H55F MT, the transfer case (the split case) leaked all the oil and seized. I didn’t notice until it was too late as the truck is very loud due to the new muffler location (right under drivers door) so I didn’t hear the whine from the gears. The rear output shaft bearing seized to the shaft and subsequently to the race inside the rear output shaft bearing retainer (or it could have been the other way around
). When I tried to replace the race in the rear output shaft bearing retainer, it fell out due to the old one melting the aluminum and making the “slot” larger. So I bought a whole new Genuine Toyota bearing retainer (from a very trusted store who I’ve purchased countless things from before). Pressed the new race in, fits like a glove. Mates to the t-case as the old one did. Besides that I have replaced all the gears, seals, bearings, gaskets and washers with the exception of the seal on the back side of the bearing retainer where the yoke for the rear drive shaft slides over the rear output shaft. That seal is obviously crucial to keeping oil in the t-case. The issue is the new bearing retainer (I tossed the bag with the part number of course) has a larger diameter where that seal goes, but everything else is the same as the original one. Is there anyone that can help me identify the seal that I need for this bearing retainer? To further complicate things, I’m moving from CA to NY in three weeks. Sorry in advance for the long and poorly written novel. I took some really rough measurements with a caliper of the diameter of the new (the shiny one) and the old (the dirty one) and I have circled the seal in another picture for reference to which part I need. To clarify, the normal seal that goes with my VIN, will not fit, it’s too small.
