Transfer case 4wd switch part interchange? (1 Viewer)

4wd dash light went out, traced it back to the switch that screws into the side of the transfer case and lights up the dash bulb when 4wd engages (the 4wd system otherwise works fine).

Dealer wants $115 for the switch, and I see a couple of allegedly OEM switches on eBay, shipped from the Middle East, for $40.

Has anyone found a generic interchange or a different cheaper Toyota part that works? My local NAPA couldn’t. I don’t mind soldering on a connector if that’s all it takes.

I'd like to know too. Mine is shot as well. I have an LS conversion in mine, I think it should still work ,won't it?

Transfer switch #1 is 84222-60021, and is available. I bought mine for my HJ61 which is manual linkage, not vacuum switched. Sorry if I got you all excited.

Mine is also manual linkage- PO put a twin stick in. But it would be nice to have the indicator light work. Need to make sure I have the right one. Can't find a blow up diagram of the indicators. Need to make sure its the one I need.

I confirmed it was the right one and ordered. $65 shipped. I've used Partsouq several times and been very pleased each time. Amazingly quick shipping too.

Partsouq seems to have lowest cost for OEM, about half of what my local Toyota dealer wants. No question that the part is available, but has anyone found an interchange with another vehicle?

example: the FJ62 4wd vacuum solenoid valve (when they were available) were close to 3 figures, IIRC. But for ~$24 you can still buy the same part for a different Toyota, grind off an extra metal tab, and go on your merry way.

I’m wondering whether a similar hack exists.
