Went to drain down my transfer case to install a by-pass hose between tranny and transfer. Drained out over a quart to get down to the normal "fill" level"

Lotta oil there..no big deal, I knew it was over full. (In fact, so over full I'm pretty sure the level in the transfer was above the fill hole in the tranny)

So I hook up the Transfer side fill plug and hose, then I start pumping the oil I recovered back into the tranny. (this oil has less than 10K miles on it, I'll do a change after I see if my "fix" works.

The tranny starts overflowing with about 3/4 pint of the recovered oil still in the can? I let is sit awhile and got a little more in before it overflowed again, still got 1/2 pint or so left over?

What my friends, is up with that?

if you have it level and both are full to the threads I say drive it for a bit then check in like a week or couple hundred miles. Sounds liike you are putting more thought into this than needs to>
