Picked up a 91 chevy 350 fuel injected motor for the 40, I am a bit stumped on which way to go for the transmission, 3 options at this point on the table are:

1- SM465 or 420- but not sure what to do about t-case with Toyota offset rear axle
2- get an AA for my H41- not sure if the H41 to 3 speed will handle a V8
3- go automatic transmission

Any feedback/experience is appreciated.

Automatic I have a 700r4 with a 4:1 orion. If you put your foot on the brake, it loads up the tourqe converter and effectively doubles your crawl ratio. No more feathering the clutch. You can go 1/2 way up a rock and stop. Very easy working the gas and brake.

Is that chevy a 4x4 pickup? Maybe u can use existing trans?
I like standard trans on my rig, but im only 21 and like to live on the edge!

It was easy, change the output shaft and tail housing on the tranny. My 700 was built by Performance unlimited in Woodstock. Full manual shift with all the goodies. Rodney has built a ton of them for off road. All the adapters came from Valley Hybrids (George- Orange45 on mud) He is the tranny guru- great prices too. An auto makes it soo easy off road. I have been running mine for about 6 years with no problems

What did you use for the transfer case?

Any thoughts on the H41 to 3 speed handling the V8?

Tom,
I have a older model 350 mated to th350 with an adapter to a Landcruiser tcase.
I bought it from Gary S. awhile back but ended up picking up the rock box and sm420.
It has driveshafts and shifter included.
If your interested let me know.

I have an SM465 mated to a 3speed case that I'm going to be selling in the next couple months if that's route you want to go. Might be selling the toy box I picked up.

this was my original plan, PM me with a cost.
