Use GL-4, not GL-5 grade oil.

Owners manual says SAE 90

GL5 is more slippery, whatever that means. Too slippery for the synchros in the tranny.

Actually the FJ60 Owners manual specs GL-4 or GL-5 in the tranny and t-case. GL-5 is much easier to get and so that's what I run.

I put in Redline MT90. Seems to shift a little easier when it's cold but that could just be wishful thinking. Shifting from second to third seems a little smoother.

Funny-I'm running the MT90 in my H55f. I had run Mobil1 75w-90 previously. I can't detect any difference. I even tried a brief initial fill with conventional Valvoline. Again, no difference. Your probably right about cold weather shifting, it shifts just fine down to the coldest we see here in the area.
