Hi Folks, a friend of mine has a 2006 Prado 4L auto. The 4x4 light on the dash flickers all the time and the cruise control is not working. Toyota recons it is the transfer case actuator. Any previous experience with this issue? Any input will be much appreciated.

Could be for sure... Bad sensor would cause the flag and cc to fail
If VSC is flashing it will interrupt the CC circuit as it will flag a low traction event and prevent throttle control.
Did your friend ever resolve this?
I have the exact same problem. My theory re: cruise control is that it's deactivated when the CDL light is activated. My light is intermittently flashing/flickering, and when it's solidly off my cruise is fine. As soon as it starts to act up, it will disengage cruise.
