Pretty new to the "off roading" scene. i live in richmond Va. looking for some local richmond/VA trails to put my fj62 on. If anyone knows of any trails not too advanced please let me know.

Most of the legal trails in VA consist of the Forest Service Roads in the George Washington National Forest and other similar areas. They are plenty scenic, fun to explore and easily tackled in a stock 60-series Cruiser. This past weekend, I ran part of Long Run Rd near Fulks Run, VA with my family, in a bone stock crew cab long bed Chevy pickup. It was easy "wheeling" and a very pretty drive. If you do run some forest service roads, DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THE FOREST SERVICE ROAD. There are often little side shoots and hill climbs that look established enough, but you risk being ticketed or worse. The Cove, near Gore, VA has several trails of varying difficulty, but wheeling there is often invitation only. As far as wheeling in the Richmond area, I would expect that you would be limited to private land or illegal powerline trails etc. Legal & Wheeling are often mutually exclusive in VA. Just because something looks like a trail that people wheel all the time, doesn't mean you can't get busted. You often have to travel quite a ways for good, legal wheeling. I'm not trying to be a negative nancy, I just don't want you to get in trouble by running down a trail that 'looks' ok, but is treated like ecoterrorism in VA.

too easy to get tickets over there, ask me how i know

Word.

Although, you'd probably safe if you reminded yourself that if it looks fun, don't do it.
