You want to run substantial power draw trailer circuits, in addition to just stop/tail/turn signal lights?

Phil, the problem with the factory unit is where it’s located. If you have one now you should be able to have it changed under the recall. I’m using the upgraded unit am happy with it. No splicing involved. However doesn’t have a protection against shorts, and the RV dealer shorted it out trying to hook it up. Toyota replaced it under warranty (it was only a month old).
The draw back is it's cost, it is quite expensive - even with the Cruiserdan discount.

My 1st choice was the factory harness but it is no longer available per CDan.:crybaby:
I'm forced to go aftermarket and the 2 I linked use battery power for the trailer power with short protection. It uses the factory lights for control switching voltage only. My hope is someone has had good luck with one of them.

Phil, if you want, I have my old one, (I think) & if you want I can give it to you to use the factory ends. Just cut off the converter part, use the factory ends to solder in the new converter. This will save you form cutting your wires.
Ill look after lunch to see if I still have it.

That would be great!:D Would make for a clean install

I’m sad to say, but after looking through two boxes of electrical stuff, I could not find the old harness. This is a bummer for me as well. I wanted the 4 wire flat end that mounts under the factory hitch for my new setup. Stay tuned for my new 7way location.
