I have built a 5x7 trailer for camping/utility duty. The axle hub pattern is 6x5.5 and came with conical lug nuts but no wheels. I have a pair of aluminum hub-centric wheels from a t100 I want to use which take shank style lug nuts.

If I change the trailer's studs would the shank lugs center the wheel properly? or will I have to do something else to safely use these wheels? Any better suggestions?

I'd rather not use spacers or adapters if possible.

I also posted in the trailer section hoping for additional help.

Thank you all.

Hi - I've encountered the same issue with my utility trailer. I changed the axle studs to match the metric threads of the Toyota shank lugs, and used a set of stock rims from a 3rd generation 4Runner. The wheels appear to be centered on the axle hub, but when driving on the highway it feels as though there is a slight vibration coming from the trailer axle. For shorter distances the setup works fine, but for longer trips I think you'd need to consider a set of hub-centric adapters to ensure the rims are correctly centered. I was not able to find any stock adapters to fit my application, so would need to order a custom set....might be doing that this summer.
