One thought I had a while back but didn't post. To the one one's doing the Fiberglass trailer, Maybe find some tanks that are the width of the traler fender. and have those like saddle tanks running next to the frame.... hope that makes since, open up space otherware.. and it keeps it down low. running in front of the tire, and under the fiberglass, outside of trailer frame. Ignore .'s

Twasn't my idea. I saw a yard service gooseneck trailer the otherday, who had a storage system set up outside the frame like that, and that it was just the coolest. I took some pictures, it's kinda related.. really neat way to use extra space, you're already that wide because of fenders, so why not use it.

I was looking at Big Bend Natl Park yesterday on the net. Seems like a good winter trip. Not too cold and plenty of open space. I could recoup my costs by charging the illegals 100 pesos to stamp their wrist as they come across the river, sort of like a doorman.

I've started the conversion of my m101a2 from 8 lug hubs to 6 lug hubs. I found a hub on etrailer that seemed like it might fit but alas, it doesn't. The outer bearing is the wrong size. I'm going to call ABC Bearing supply and see if they have a bearing that will work. If not, I'm going to have to return the hubs I got and see if I can find something else.

Will post up what I find. If this doesn't work, I'm going to just go back to the 8lug. Maybe at some point change the whole axle, but I hate getting rid of the stout military axle.

I was thinking that yes. Now after a call to the bearing supply place, there is no bearing available to make this work, so I'm going to return the hubs and try and get my $$ back. I'll just stick with the 8lug wheels for now. Just need to find me a spare.

I know what you mean about not wanting to ditch a good axle, but a new axle is almost the same cost as hub adapters. So when you look at it that way no loss. Plus you can put the old axle on Craigslist or something and maybe get a few bucks.

This was actually trying to replace the whole hub. They were only 55 bucks a hub. But in the long run they might as well have been free. They didn't work.

I'll just stick with the 8lugs. Just need to see if I can find me a spare. I have a tire for it. Just need the rim. I think it takes an 8 lug from and older GM. Not 100 percent sure.

Is it 6.5 or 6.25. I just went out and measured dads Hd. I'd say it is a 6 1/4. 8 lug.

Or that's what it looked like to me.

07.5 gmc Sierra. It the new new body style. As opposed to my 06 new body style.

According to tirerack, the '07 GMC 2500 HD is 8X165 which translates to 6.49 (6.50 if rounded up) which is the same as the '90 GMC 2500 which '90 was the year my trailer was made.

so that's what I'm looking for. I'd like to find 3 wheels that I could put on the truck in 16" since I have tires already. Sad, I was really looking forward to using my matching toyota wheels.

when I was looking I found them for like 150-250 depending if you wanted brakes or not. That was for 3500lb axle. I think it was ABC trailer parts or something.

a 5200 lb axle is $339 from ABC before shipping. Northshore trailers wants around $450 for an axle to fit.

i'm done with this crap. lol I'm going to buy a spare tire for the trailer. 'nuff said.

Why do you want a 5200 lb Axle? shouldnt a 3500LB do everything you want to do?? I though one reasonto swap axles on M101a2s was to lighten teh trailer. On way of accomplishing this is with a lighter axle.
