Hey Guys,
Whats the bee's knees in full engagement, rotating off road trailer hitches these days? I'm considering the Lock N Roll, Max Coupler, lunette/pintle and any others y'all might suggest.

I like the lunette/pintle option due to price and the its innate rotational limit. Dislike the noise/slap caused by the play within the two parts.

I like the Lock N Roll alot and they even have a version that limits rotation to 35 degrees off horizontal. Solid connections throughout, well constructed, though a bit pricier.

Any other thoughts and suggestions? Please chime in!

Hows has it been going? (nice build so far)

I have been eyeballing the Max-Coupler, just waiting for Kilby to get it back in stock. At work we have pintles and definately dislike the play and rattles that are inherent to them but, they are STRONG.

I would think one can reduce the noise with some judiciously placed rubber and if possible a spring-loaded lunette.

But can't say that I find the noise particularly bothering. (Then again, maybe cuz mine does have a spring?)

I reduced my "knock" using a copper tube insert--

sggoat, hrrmm... but does that limit it's ability to rotate?

Maybe some, but I've taken it over some close to 30 Deg twists and it didn't bind that I know of. (after all, it's maleable copper) I didn't see any evidence of pinching. This is a pretty mild rotate, so I don't know if it would bind if it got REALLY kinked--my suspicion is that it would.

Don't use those combination ball/pintle hitches...
those are a poor choice/fitment.
and should only be used by those whom normally
would use the ball hitch... rarely the pintle thang

A correctly sized pintle hitch and lunette...
should work good with minimal noise/play.
The fit should not fit so tight that it limits movement
but not fit sloppy like the combo hitch is.

I use a 5 ton pintle for a good match up
to my M100's lunette.
* Not all lunette ring diameter's will be the same fit

I have all the above hitches... and the Max Coupler

I prefer my Max Coupler... and have used it well
but keep the properly matched pintle/lunette as back up
if the Max C. were to fail.

^ tho' I doubt I'll need to.

here's some clips of my testing of the 6000lb Max C.
works very well, near silent, durable, reliable.

1. Max C. - M100

2. Max C. - M100

3. Max C. - M100

4. Max C. - M100
