Trailer hitch

I have a 99 lx and my son has a 02 lx...he gave his trailer hitch but even though the hitch is supposed to be exactly the same for both vehicles I cannot get it to bolt up, my holes are just about 1/4 inch or so wider out....both vehicles have never been in any accidents...
Any one with any insight?...granted I can run up road and buy a brand new hitch but I'm scared the new one will be the same

I ended up just ordering a new Reese hitch

I had to send this one back to amazon because the holes didnt line up. They had to pay shipping both ways.

So was it an error in manufacturing or a difference in the rear frames?

I don't know but have seen a few different hitch variants on different cruisers around town and such.

Not sure if it's CURT or REESE that have the bent left rear section to allow better use of the rear tow hook.

The one I pulled off and tried put on mine was one they sell at uhaul...I think it is a curt...I ended up just ordering a Reese from amazon and it will be here Tuesday
