Here's a few things you should know for installing a trailer brake controller:
1. buy the wiring converter from Toyota. There are two modules. one plugs in under the dash and the other plugs in under the hood. Without them the turn signals won't work.
2. mount the controller on the fuse box door. It's going to hit your leg from time to time. I ordered an additional fuse box door from Toyota, so when I am not towing, I just pop the fuse box cover off, detach the wires, and throw the door with the controller still screwed onto it into the glove box for storage until I need to tow again. The extra door was about $10 and the wire just tucks back in the dash and its like it was never there. If you just mount it to the right side of the bottom of the dash your leg will hit it constantly.

Good info. Can you tell me what the modules are? My parts guy isn't sure? What controller did you go with? Thanks.

I went withe the Tekonsha Prodigy. Regarding the convertor, call 1-877-696-4266 and ask to be transferred to extension 7350 and ask for Aaron or Dan. They are the parts managers at Dick Hannah Toyota in WA. You are not in this neck of the woods but if you ask them for the part number of the wiring convertor that Brian bought, they will get you the number and you can either order from them and they will ship it or you can order through your local dealer in AZ. I work for the same company and they will know what you are asking about.

Great info, thanks for the reply. Jim
