I was out recently at a Military vehicle sales yard and came across a few 101
1A 3/4 ton Army trailers. I am considering buying one and removing the box from the frame and installing the box on my 82 FJ45.
At the time I did not have any way of measuring the trailer and comparing the dimensions of the FJ45 to see if this is even possible. It may be a bit wide but I can cut and weld to accommodate. Before I dig into this a bit more maybe some out there has done this install or tried it and can share a few bits of information.
Anyway looks promising will know more when I return to the yard in a few weeks.

Thanks in advance

Why not fab a frame, mount your 45 box and put a cruiser axle under as now you will have spare parts and tires ?
The money you save on the trailer you purchase the axle and also spare tires.
I've thought about this but am not at the point where i need it yet.

What is it about the 101 trailer thats desireable for us ?

101 Trailer

alberta mac,
I have kicked around a few ideas on this, but still not sure if this box from the 101 will fit the LWB frame of the FJ45. It may be a bit on the long side at the front of the box but with a good cut off saw and a good welder things can happen. I already have a small M416 trailer that tows behind the 45 and two FJ spare tires/rims that are carried for the off road travels.
As for why we like the trailers, they are well built, semi cheap, and look cool.
That's just me.

There is someone in your group, who did that. It looks great. I know he had to section it, but I'm not sure of the facts. I've got four of those trailers, just really like them.

101 Trailer

I do not think I saw the 101 trailer installation on MUD, but I do remember seeing it somewhere just do not remember were. From what I do remember is that some cutting/welding was needed to create a good truck box. Reminded me of the old Deuce and a Half's trucks in the Army, just smaller.
:meh:
