Don't take signs for granted. One of our local trails got posted closed. It was an official USFS sign so we honored it. Later we got thinking and decided to ask why such a popular trail got closed. No one knew anything and the answers didn't match or make any sense till we talked to some of the lower ranking public servants that actually cared told us the deal. These "Clinton Implants" were doing this all over the place. They would mark a trail closed to get people to stop using a trail. If it was dormant for a year they could legally close it. Is that chicken**** or what? Any way we went around and took down these illegitimate signs and threw them on their front steps. We haven't had such blatent stupidity since but they are getting smarter and finding new ways to cheat. Know your area and stay involved. When the new OHV area was established at Sand Hollow some developers were trying to get their hands on it and almost succeeded. If it wasn't for the quick actions of our local 4WD club and MC club it would have been lost. We now have a wonderful OHV area with a lake, dunes and slickrock trails.
