2022 LX600, 54k miles. Offered $69k on a trade for a full msrp 2025 LX700h overtrail.

What do you all think? Jump or just keep enjoying the LX600?

2-row or 3-row?

I was in your situation when I looked at the 700. I only have 10.5k miles on my 23, so to trade it in on an almost identical vehicle didn’t make sense functionally (because they are almost the same) and financially as my 23 is just about paid off.

Yeah, I paid mine off within 9 months of purchase, so it is a hard sell. And I'm looking at adding an LC500 vs a 911 to my stable, and this would put it off for another year.

The alternative would be to modify a bit (OME 2.5, 34's, roof rack) and have my own version of an overtrail, just without lockers.

$69k? That's some BS huh? I would fight for at least another $3k or $4k there. They will take your car, wash it, basic oil change and put in the lot for $80k at least.

Assuming you paid MSRP on your 22, you would be losing minimum roughly $35k since you bought it and would then jump into a loan/spend another $60k on top of that. $100k out the door in 3 years, ouch. Unless you are doing super well and money is not a limitation, I would not do that thinking from a rational financial perspective. I know, I know, there is nothing rational about car purchases anyway, but if your current LX meets your needs, no real reason to trade IMO.

That said, one thing to consider - you have a unit included in the recall for the "enginegate", so maybe that could hurt your appraisal down the line when more and more LXs 23 and up become available for sale. So, if you think you will be tempted again in one or two years, just go for it now.

My 22 is a base model, so $89k msrp. -20k over three years.
Ahm, ok. Now it makes sense what they are offering you. I wish this option was still available to buy brand new, although I suspect Lexus would charge no less than $100k today for the base, base model.

Naw keep it longer, those initial base models were good deals. Might as well capitalize on that.

Everything on your mod list but add 4.30 locking diffs from the GR.

Or maybe run some 275/70/18s and put in an FSport torsen diff. Less lift/mods needed.

Do the sound system too.

Have you driven the 700h yet? I feel you will be impressed by the jump in power/torque. Had an opportunity a couple of years ago to trade our 200 in on the 600, and it really didn't "wow" me enough to do so. Shortly after , I drove the Sequoia and left there with a few wows and a feeling that it was the drivetrain that needed to be in the LX one day.

A 22% price depreciation offer on your 600 isn't bad in my opinion. It's below the average for a vehicle with 56k miles and 3 years old (30-35% normally & you are a little higher than average on miles). Plus, if you're in a state that offers tax credit on your trade-in, that's a bonus as well. With that, I say go for it. Life is short, ha ha.

And best of luck on the LC500. I've owned mine for 5 years now, just cannot get rid of it. Literally one of the best cars I have owned (100+ cars).

I'd consider buying yours for the $69 cash
That would be a good deal for you, wouldn't it?

yes, have been similarly impressed with the couple of LC's I've driven. Looking at a 24 or 25 convertible.

The loss of cargo space in the LX700h is a bit of a bummer, as I use mine for all the crazy adventures with a family of five.

Still pondering.

I’m team LC500 and lift the 600…

I had an extended test drive of a LX600 last year, dealer gave me the keys and let me go play. Cool rig, I liked it a lot.

Fast forward to this year and I bought a 700h OT. The vehicles feel different to me, some of it might be in my head but here’s my take:
-Lexus has improved little things on the platform we don’t even know about. Suspension tuning, throttle mapping, maybe other stuff.
-The LX700h is a beast from a power perspective. Drive one if you haven’t yet, put it in sport s and you’ll see what I mean. It’s a riot.
-LX OT with triple lockers is just a flat out mic drop. Resale will be sky high, and if you want to do any overlanding, it’s a level of insurance against getting stuck.
-33” factory tires and skid plates are badass on a Lexus.

Your 600 is paid off, my vote is to get the 700 OT. The LC500s (which I also love btw) will still be around in a year.

I feel the loss of cargo space would make this a NO especially with family of 5.

Not sure of the size of your 5 family members, but if you need cargo space and do not need a third row, at least wait or order the 2-row version of the 700OT. That raised floor and tray in the back in the 3-row version is almost as ridiculous as the stupid chin in the LXs and you will be left with a Tetris game trying to fit your cargo with limited vertical space.

I bet that is true. It is the same with any car manufacturer. First and second year models are guinea pigs and always get improved afterwards. If anything, with my latest purchases I bought the last year models of the 5th gen 4runner and 200HE, because (although probably behind in tech - which could also be a benefit seeing all the nannies in cars these days) those are usually at the top of their game with any meaningful kinks sorted out.

Not trying to be political and hopefully the 2 row version is not affected by tarrif because it might push north of the current 3rd row version.

You guys have left me where I was. Seeing all the bonuses of the 700h, while appreciating the awesomeness that is the 600.

The sense of driving the epitome of a Land Cruiser, a triple locked LX700h, has one of those price tags that's not quite quantifiable.

Testing driving an earth LX700h this evening...will let you know
