Pros: better MPG, newer infotainment system.
Any cons? Lose KDSS, Iconic “Land Cruiser” badge? long term maintenance cost?
Occasionally light off-roader, national parks, state parks.

Thanks for any input.

LX has an identity crisis
Land Cruiser name plate inspires awe.

LX has the ugliest face of any vehicle ever made
LC’s face is handsome

LX is newer
LX will slurp less fuel
LX costs a lot

I guess I’m a LC fan boy, but the thought of a new Lexus sitting in my driveway leaves me flaccid- even though it’s essentially the same vehicle as the LC300.
There’s just something about the Lexus name that’s a turn off to me - even though they are nice vehicles made by Toyota.

Go for it. There won’t be a better time to sell your 200. GR grill

We need more info.

Why are you considering one at all? Is the extra luxury worth it? Does going to a Lexus dealer and getting a better experience matter? MPG in the real world will be a little better but not as much as you think.

The base LX doesn’t have height adjustment right? That would be a major consideration for me going to LX.

Yes, it feels good to have that iconic nameplate. How much is that worth to you? Because to some it’s everything. There’s a lot of guys who would be better off in an LX for their needs but just need that nameplate. They’d have a totally different opinion on AHC if it was offered on the LC like they do in other markets.

I didn’t find much difference in the cost of servicing between Toyota and Lexus (in basic services like oil changes).

I think you need to get the luxury trim or higher to have AHC. No clue why it is not even an option for the base and premium trims. I hate this.

If you are happy with the LC, why consider the LX? I would give it a year or two and see how these LXs are doing.

I remember looking at new LXs in 2018 or 2019. Back then, it was very easy to get an LX at invoice less rebates at the time. I think end of year deals were $6k or $7k rebates. Boy have times changed 👎

Im trying to switch to something less floaty, nose diving; with full time 4WD and a bit more cargo space.
I’m not a big fan of ACH. Really curious about the base model suspension without all these adjustable systems.

Absolutely agree with you! I think waiting will be a smart move.
Not a big fan of adjustable suspensions tho.

I’d say wait if you are interested . A six figure Lexus in a less crazy car market will be harder to swallow; rover trucks are nearly priced the same. I predict the normal under invoice pricing will be back soon.

...is your 200 not full time 4WD? Seems like you could do whatever you wanted to the suspension of the 200 to get whatever ride you'd like.

Personally, I would wait. If you can swing it and your pocketbook math makes sense, GO FOR IT!

Get what you want. It's a more than capable vehicle and looks good.

Assuming you can get one...

Buy it and use both for awhile... likely selling the LC within two months with the market still strong. Refi the LX.

Risk - depreciation hit on the LX, but if values stay high, may not be that significant.

I've had them both, for me the Cruiser is the winner. No way I'd give up a 2018+ Cruiser for any LX and if the real world numbers we are seeing from the new Tundra are any indication I wouldn't expect more than 2mpg's better at best and with a lot more complexity. Keep your Cruiser and your money and revisit this in 2024.

I agree. If you can wait, buy it used.
Heck if you can swing it now. Do it!
