Let me know how that aussie works out for you.... If you like it I might have another for the front end...
You'll have to buy a replacement pin kit for it (about $20) but other than that its not in bad shape.
I'm saying fk it and going to try something else. I've busted all the pins in that locker twice now and everything is within specs. Apparently those just cant hold up to a 350 in a cruiser (and the second time I wasn't even doing anything).

RIiiiiiight.... Like we believe that!

When you broke those pins was it in the front or the rear? Can I run an Aussie front and rear and still have it handle the pavement OK? Since we put the locker in I probably haven't put 20 miles on it. I did fill it full with gas yesterday so I think I may go putting around this weekend somewhere.

PS, I would Imagine broken pins inside the gearbox aren't too good to have around?

I tore up a lock-rite in the rear of my 40. But I had a 350 pushing 36's on it, I had to put in a Detroit which worked great. I think the Aussie is made the same as the Lock-Rite and if you are close to stock and easy on it I imagine it would hold up fine.

x2, based on your rig, and even how mine is built I doubt you'll blow the aussie. I wouldn't bother with a lunch locker in your front.... until you lift, tires, armor, crawl, mod, dent, wheel ;).

My aussie has suited my needs just fine for how and what I use my truck for.

I hear you Ty, but I'm learning it pays to have a garage full of spare parts. I'll never turn down a deal on something I "might" use someday. As long as I have the coin, which ain't too often. :)

Dent....did you say Dent? A dent would be OK, it would take my mind off the creeping rust.

Noticed a more significant puddle under my rear diff this morning. Going to have to read up on changing the seal there. Don't suppose one of the rear axle seals we didn't use would be the same thing Huh? ;)

Bitchin! I may just get under there today, pull my "propeller shaft"(that always cracks me up) and take a look-see. Jerod, why can't you move to Dreadford or Non-Central Point? It's be so much more convenient- for all of us! :D

Instead of a block of wood, can i just beat the seal in with my HEAD!!? :bang:

HA HA

As long as it's soft enough not to damage the seal.... :D

FYI I found pinion seals to be half the price at the dealer than at the auto parts store....

Hey, I wasn't doing anything Honest, ... i hadn't gotten that far yet.

I have it in the rear diff. Nah, compared to a gear those things are nothing, lol. I don't think you'd have an issue driving on the road with ratcheting lockers in both the front and rear, they'd really only lock up on you when you hit the gas. And we all know how well a 2f hits the gas, lol.

I guess I have to agree with you. ALTHOUGH.... I am only pushing 35's .... but then again mines a 383 instead of a 350, nah that wouldn't matter!
I'm working on getting my A/C condenser to turn into a air compressor, then I have to build a mounting bracket for the 350 engine. I'll end up with air in the back end I guess : (
A side note from Aussie however: They stated that with a 350, 4.88 gears, the tolerances I measured, and 35" tires it should have no problems. That was when I bought the second set of pins and springs.

A stock rig should have no problems with those lockers, hell with the 2f engine there should be no problems with them.

149 impressive horses under the hood! (when new)

Umm.... complicated injection vs simple carburation? Thought you had a 60 not a 62?
slcfj62 has details ; P
Don't jip yourself! Its 155 horses under the hood, lol.

Thanks, must have been the 2F rating I was looking at. :D

The only simple carbs from the 1980's were on lawn mowers..... :D

Myself, I was always under the impression simple carbs were like sugar, honey, pasta and breads!! ;p And simple carbs on lawnmowers??? HeII, I still can't get that mower running right- I was gonna go with F.I. next weekend?!

And what's that little window for? Are there ghosts living in the machine?

"I know a guy" that works on lawn mowers (or anything else I guess) if you need someone to look at it for you.
