On our 2000 LX, with 307,000 miles. The traction control light and alarm are coming on intermittently. I assumed it was likely a bad wheel speed sensor, as this started after my daughter went "mudding" at the farm. I am getting codes: C1123, C1231, C1246, C1340, which is ABS System Fault, Street Wheel Angle Sensor Fault, Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor Fault, and Open Diff Lock Switch Circuit. I am also getting a code for a bad brake light switch. Before I start throwing parts at this, any idea where to start?

It's the steering gear assembly. I just replaced mine on my 2000 LX470. If you're handy with tools, you can do it yourself and save $$$. If not, either fix it or sell the truck. If it's not unsafe to drive now, it soon will be; the computer's job is to drive the truck and with the steering gear sensors out of balance, because the bushings are worn, it will drive you off the road. This is the major fault with drive by wire systems, IMHO.

Of course, you could do what the PO of mine did - install a VGRS cutoff switch and tell yourself you're a genius.

That is an impressive amount of miles on your LX. In my experience I have found that if the tie rods are worn it can cause the stability control system alarm to become activated around curves. Jack up one side of the front and see if the front wheel has play side to side(about the vertical axis). If it does have excessive play, then try to identify where the play is coming from. The inner tie rods seem to wear quicker as they are considerably smaller than the outer tie rods. Best of luck.

I have a 2001 LC with 235K and just replaced steering rack with OEM and Whiteline Poly bushings. Getting same beeping VSC warning symtom on turns I could noramally take at same speed. Had zero point calibration from Toyota and issue continues. Really, at a lose of possible fixes. More input on topic appreciated.

Check your wheel bearings and control arm bushings for play.

The steering rack has been replaced. My mechanic said there is some play in the wheel bearings, but that it could wait until the next oil change when it will likely need front brakes. So, I will get the brakes and bearings done and see how it goes.
