This is a little after the fact, since I already ordered a bar from Deckers, but what do any of you who are running SOA use to control axle wrap?
Theres some links to Deckers on this site under general spring over questions.

I have some serious spring wrap issues on mine and hopefully this pre-fabbed bar will do the trick.

For what its worth, I used the stock springs and they are still centered on the axle. Porbably wouldnt be to much of an issue with a 2F, but a 350 really wants to twist things. ;p

Ya, V8 is probably a different story, but my brothers 3b did do some nasty axle wrap untill he welded much longer and beefier spring pads on and put in some newer springs with an extra add a leaf.
Cheers,
Deny

i dont have bad axle wrap but like Deny's brother,I also have the longer perches. So maybe that could work for you.

I just had my first big bust in the bush yesterday. Trying to climb a rock ledge and slipped off. Busted the pinion. Not how I wanted to spend saturday afternoon. Traction bar was on the list, but not soon enough. I'm SUA with 45 springs and a 2F. Any motor would have done it. On friday, Too Tall (Abel) busted his 3/4" heim on the front of his track bar, then half a second later twisted up the drive shaft at the top of a 40' water fall. We had a good time though. Check out the trail reports. I'll write it up now.

wow.. sounds like fun. I get pretty bad axle wrap with my 35s/2F/SOA and long perches.. do you have add a leafs Dan?

My traction bar from Deckers is in..just gotta make a run to Sumas to pick it up. It sounds like an easy install..but we shall see...........

But, i did use the 40 as a tractor this weekend..pulling out shrubs and small trees in the front yard..weee that was fun..35's make a nice sound when spinning on pavement.

Did the rock hit the pinion, or did it break causing you to slip off the rock.?

I think it broke when the back wheels lost traction and slid of the ledge, dropping about a foot or 2 and hooking up again. The tires left a pretty good burn out mark on the rock where they slid down. I didn't see any rockrash on the shaft or yoke. I will hopefully get to see the video today at the club meeting. My wife said you can hear the snap on the video. I was to busy tearing a diff appart to stand around watching the video. :D

I tried a setup like the one from deckers (sucked ) the springs started to s before the perch .If you have a real issue with axle wrap you need a ladder bar type setup where you grab the top and bottom of the housing .Good luck though hope you dont bust a spring pack!
