I picked up a brand new TPS from a guy on Mud who said it was for FJ62 and the price was only $40. Mine is working fine(?) but I like to pick up stuff like that when I can. It came in and I called Deanna over at Toyota to make sure it was the correct one for my rig(I know- shut up!). She told me it was good for 1989 but only up to March of that year!! My VIN indicates a manufacture month of July or August(can't remember) and she says the TPS I bought was NOT the correct one. Well SHEEET! So then today I get under the hood and clean up the TPS that's in there so I could read the part #. It is the exact same part # as the one I bought on MUD! How would the TPS differ from month to month if it's on the same 3FE engine..??? :meh:

part numbers are frequently superseded.

what is the part number in question.

have you seen.used this site before? its very useful

heres a little automotive secret.

sensors of the same type work the same and pretty much cross and work if they plug in.

what i mean is that in the case of this TPS.
its job is to show the ECU a progressive voltage pattern from idle to WOT. basically from .5V to 4.5V.

its job is to do that whether its bolted to a TB on a 60, or mini, or supra, or camry.

now, the screwy TPS can wreak havoc on an automatic vehicle. that typically only happens when the signal goes away entirely. ive seen pretty bad TPS work fine/ok.

i guess long story short, chris you are GTG.
Deanna is a great parts lady, but she's not a tech.

Thanks Aric! I was hoping you would chime in. I bookmarked the site you mentioned. Looks pretty good. I'll save that TPS for when I pull out the injectors and replace everything needed from the injectors to the air filter. Someday. If I put it on now it would create a shiny clean spot on my engine- causing problems. :D

Yaa, Deanna is always very helpful and polite. She listed all the different vehicles that TPS would work on- a sheeetload!

Phukc! I'm always missing those memos!! :bang: Please put them in bold print next time!
