For the record, I have searched the forums and found one post with no answer and I have a FSM and have read the following and watched the videos.
I pulled TB and have a meter and gauges. My issue is, I get NO continuity when leads are on IDL and E2 which is what the FSM indicated to begin with to set the TPS. I started with .93 as instructed and I still get 1 on the meter. I tried thicker and thinner gauges. I even turn the throttle and move the TPS. Nothing but a 1 as long as its hooked to those leads. I do have continuity on all other leads VC, VTA, IDL and the readings are about the bottom third of normal per FSM for each.
I am wondering if I should be adjusting the screw stop where the feeler gauges go or replace the TPS. It seems that installing the gauges isn't moving anything readable OR the IDL connection is bad. My issue for pulling it is high idle at 1100 rpms. It needed a good cleaning anyway, but I'd like to know if maybe I am not doing something right.
Thanks in advance.
New TPS installed on our 92 3FE, instructions and what I learned
This week we installed a new Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) part #89452-14050 on our 92 with 338k. Occasional issues we were experiencing included: Random idle changes with AC off, engine stalling due to low rpms, hard starting, and erratic throttle response. I did my best to test the...
