Here are a couple of pictures of the windshield of my 1985 Toyota after an encounter with an owl on HWY 80 somewhere between St. David and Tombstone.

Wow! Poor owl.

I got hit and run by a pedestrian once, did about the samething to my windshield.

??? Was it a hit and run or a hit and hobble?

In DC, a kid about 15 got off a bus and ran in front of it, into my right front quarter. Dented the hood and mashed the windshield. He rolled off the left, looked in at my stunned face and said "I gotta get home", ran across the street to another bus and got on it, leaving.

Fortunately, there was a cop, 3rd car behind me, who saw the whole thing. He had another cop pull over the bus and bring the kid back. Who then went off in an ambulance, as his arm was bleeding pretty freely...

I apologize for the thread hijack...

Man. How'd the owl fare?
-Jonathan (owl guy)

Uhm, I'd venture that it either ended up making a tasty snack for some scavengers, or went straight to the closest 7-11 for some Lotto tickets. The former being the probable ending.

The owl didn't do so well, I think. A close look at my truck revealed that it rolled along the right side of the top of the cab. I couldn't see where it landed because my rearview mirror was knocked out of place, even though it is attached to the top of the cab, not the windshield. Plus there were other vehicles behind me. I was running late for my appointment in Bisbee, so I just kept going. I figured I would find it on my way back and throw it in the bed of the truck. But I couldn't find it. Maybe someone from one of the five or so vehicles behind me stopped to get it, or maybe it found its way into the grass areas along the side of the highway. I like to think it somehow lived without major injuries, but that's unlikely. Anyway, I got it fixed yesterday. I got it done for $146.10 through Safelite Auto Glass. But they gave me a $25 discount because someone at my work wanted her windshield replaced also. Luckily she had glass coverage through her insurance, so she wasn't out of pocket anything. I am just nobody got hurt.

Try USA Glass. He is a small independent. His last quote to me was $120 installed for an 80 front glass when I was rebuilding Sunny Belly. He uses all high-end glass and he is new in the biz, so he is hungry. Phone # is 602-438-2212

Sorry, i was disturbed. USA also did my front glass on my wife's rare 4X4 Toyo van for $100. He supplied a high-end PPG glass with top tint and installed it for me. All for $100.
Smokin' deal!!

I knew I should have waited for a referral from you guys. Next time, I won't be in such a hurry. Thanks.
