AUS spec 200 series fuel consumption:

Petrol
14.5L/100km

Turbo Diesel
10.3L/100km

Petrol = 40% more consumption vs diesel

:steer:

People, think about the slow speed, than the US Guys drive.

With slow Miles/hour you DON`T have much benefit from Diesel.

The US guys do cruising, here in Europe, specialy Germany, they drove with 200 km/h and more..

- While Offroading in 4LO with my Diesel, i need 19l Diesel / 100 Km!!!

- With 220 km/h with Cruise Control @ the Highway, it consume 21l Diesel / 100 Km!!

- In the City it consume 13.x L

- Overlanding on Streets with 80-100km/h - you will got 10l / 100 Km

Repeat this with a Petrol V8 - then you know - where the benefit is, from the Diesel.

For me it is very hard not to sleep while driving in US, because of the really slow speed..

And meets often the cops, because i`m not slow enough...

I usually push while driving, i`m shure, my Girlfriend would get a better milage from my Diesel...

I've found diesels to still offer better economy at slow speeds, 4lo notwithstanding.

People average around 85 on SoCal freeways, plenty for a traditional 4x4 which are unsuited to higher speeds especially when others are present. 280 km/h+ is fun in more appropriate vehicles and locations though. Economy goes out the window then no doubt.

I've been on the Autobahn, what a great road!! Only place in the world where I was doing 120 mpg in the fast lane and I got flashed from a 911 behind me for going to slow. He passed me like I was standing still.

Carl was it 4am when you where able to hit 85 mph in SoCal? I used to consider it good fortune to be able to take my foot off the brake:).

Question, does the extra price for deisel offset the mileage advantage at all?

I doubt Toyota would make it's base model LC a Diesel, as good as it is, still not enough supporters of Diesel in the states. Am I correct that the 4.7 petrol engine currently in other countries is very similar to the engine in the 05-07 100 Series?

Yes you are correct. Same engine with the 5 speed as well. Those markets using the 4.7 were supposed to eventually change over to the 4.6 but I guess that never happened. Japan offers the 4.6

Any chance of telling your squirrel story on the post below? l

Look it up, its in the forums already. And I don't dislike the 100, it just so happens that it was the only Toyota to EVER let me down...twice.

Look it up, you are smart enough to do a search.

I've done a search, I can't find it. No chance of telling it again?

Do you not want to tell it again because you made it all up?

BTW, someone said you where 16. I thought you where more like 19 or 20. Perhaps they meant that the Squirrel event happen when you where 16?
