Saw a few updates yesterday on the above. My wife reminded me that it's not the big boy Cruiser. Another good reason to own a 200 series!

Spent a good bit of time vacationing in Europe last few years and while I have spotted a few newer (2016+) 200s driving around, I've seen many 2008 or similar Lexus GXs that are all badged as Toyota Land Cruisers from the factory. Any idea on what that's about? I've been wondering about this for a while, somewhat related to the above

It makes sense over there as the 200 wouldn't be able to go to most places due to the narrower streets and town centers. Plus gasoline being $2 a liter...

It's a branding exercise. Branding often doesn't have to relate to substance. Just look at all the name brand items that have been watered down over the years to then be sold on name recognition alone. Good enough for the masses.

No disrespect to the Prado/GX and I think it might be the exception and has big shoes to fill.

The Mrs is right it still won't be the big boy LC.

Agreed. I would R&R the 3UR-FE if my tank gives up the ghost (not likely).

A used GX460 is more appealing to me with the 4.6 V8 if I added another Toyota to the stable—vs anything turbocharged.

here is a render.... hopefully will be more retro for the US, idk

seems the Pardo carries the J250 series nomenclature ...
so maybe a Land Cruiser 250 series in the states.

Bear in mind that the new GX550 has the traditional big boy LC/LX wheelbase of 112.2 inches, not the old wheelbase of the 4Runner/Prado/GX of 109.8. So while it not be the 300 Series LC that we get here in the US, the new GX/LC size seems to be pretty close to the 200 Series. IMHO.

Takr it for what it is worth, but Carscoops is reporting the US LC will only have 4 cylinder options.

“GX” is a trim level in a lot of the rest of the world, both on Prados and LC’s.

I feel both of those statements are probably correct.
here is my take.. purely speculation though..

1) the new LC will probably have a 4cyl turbo out of the tacoma platform, maybe an option for a V6 from the GX. Everywhere else gets a diesel, the Middle East will have 4cyl and V6 petrol engines
2) our Lexus GX will be the WW Prado GX version and up in trim levels
3) our LC 250 version will be the lower trim levels
4) unique front clip, it may carry over to WW models, not sure here
5) more variation to go up against the Jeep and Bronco
6) Price points will be in the current 4runner space/jeep/Bronco area. The 4Runner will move up under the Sequoia in Lux and price (so 55K + ish) and be mostly the Limited type versions with full-time 4wd and hybrid only.
7) Maybe some form of soft top - but that is a long shot.
