I want to import a Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ105R to USA! I want to bring it from Australia! I found the 4.5 gasoline engine I really like! I know it is low power, but I really really love that engine! I want to bring it into the USA! It is a stock 105 I will bring! It is a 2000 model year! I am able to offroad with this vehicle really hard! The solid axles are something I need! I will put Old Man Emu suspension on it! It will have a snorkel and lockers! I want only gasoline because of the stupid EPA! I want diesel, but it can be impossible to import! Gasoline people are saying I can import! I also can buy a UZJ100, but it can be limited for offroading! It will be very fun to drive the FZJ105R!

nt diesel, but I can't because of the EPA!

Welcome to mud! You sure seem excited about the LC world!

Not to burst your bubble, but IIRC, it can't be done. I believe there was a model of the 100 that was importable, but it was euro or UAE spec only.

The engine is only part of it. Airbags, safety features, crash ratings, etc all play into effect.

You're probably going to have to wait the 25 year mark until you can import a 105.

Funny thing, I saw a 105 in the USA with all Arabic written on it and it says the UAE! I wanted it so badly since then!

There are one 105 in the states that was imported by a diplomat, but that's the only one I've ever heard of.

Some more info:
Has anyone imported a 105 series into the US?
Locating a 105

Just buy a fluffier NA spec 100 and solid axle swap it and bam! Homemade 105. You can even use 80 series axles so it's all Toyota.

Thanks for the Info! I was thinking of converting it to solid axles but it looks hard and a lot of work is required! I have no idea how the guy imported to the USA! I wanted to import it under 30k! Can I say the 100 series are sold in the USA and because of that can I get it legally imported? I saw a nice 80 I like and it is a diesel! I heard they are conforming vehicles and I can import one 21 years or older because of EPA!

Nope, because 100s are sold worldwide, there are many different specs and makes. Only the US spec 100 is sold and allowed here, due to all our EPA and safety ratings. There are a bunch of diesel 80s using US spec engines (Cummings, Isuzu, etc). The rule for imports is still 25+, according to everywhere I've looked.

Your better off buying a 100 in the states for $15-$20k and having a shop solid axle swap it/mod it for $10k.

Read about the feds seizing forty Land Rovers in one month awhile back. They showed up in body armor and weapons ready at folks houses to take the vehicles.

The trucks were sold as legal imports and the bureaucrats have returned some of them after a court case found the gov. made some errors.

Talkin about jackbooted thugs willing to shoot over a vehicle.

That is crazy! I emailed Toyota to bring it to the USA and make it legal! I said they don't have to import diesel! They can bring petrol! I said the 105 substantially similar to the 80 and 100 series! So they can import it!

blame the chicken tax and Mercedes Benz for our dumb importing rules

these cars are perfectly safe, much safer than half the P.O.S. i see on the road every day with squeaky brakes and bumpers half off

I hope legally I can import one without all the stress! If its been imported once then I can import it right? It is also substantially similar to the 80 series and 100 series! I can get a 100 series, but modifying it is hard! I also want manual with 4.5 liter engine! Then solid axles from a 80!

Wow, you're excited. As already noted, it can't be done.

Can't be imported. No way, no how, not possible. If they find one that has been imported illegally, they can seize and crush it. Google search people who imported GTR and Land Rover Discoveries illegally that were less than 25 years old It ain't happening.

Not without $250k+ and a lot of time, even then there is no guarantee. Like I said before, your better off buying a 100 here and customizing it to your liking. Toyota didn't bring it here for a reason, they aren't going to bring it here now.

It is impossible.

If you have the coin for the import, you should just do the SAS on a 100
eg:
Project 180 SAS

!

It looks like 105 is not possible. But I am looking at a LHD FZJ100 now! It looks exactly like the ones we get here except with a 6 cylinder and some other things. And the other one is a VXR. One is a automatic and other is a manual. I am trying to import one. I am importing it from Dubai. The RI said I can do it but it has to be a LHD.

I LIKE EXCLAMATION POINTS, TOO!!!

So what is the advantage of importing a Middle East spec 100 series (w/ a petrol/gasoline engine)?

Availability of the 1FZ (80 series) engine?
Availability of a manual transmission?
Tailgate options other than the horizontal split tailgate?
Poverty package availability?
LX features on an LC (VXR)?
Factory winch?
Factory swing-away tire carrier?
Icebox console?

While I wouldn't mind some of those features, none of them really makes up for the fact that I wouldn't get to physically inspect the vehicle prior to purchase. If I worked or travelled overseas, and found the right one, maybe it would make some sense. Why go through the expense and red tape to import a 100 series that is so similar to the ones already here?
