i am trying to import a Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ100. I am importing a LHD from Dubai. I am looking at two. One is a GXR and the other one looks exactly like the US one with a 6 cylinder engine. They both are good and look in good condition.

I think it's a no brainer but if i were a net importer to the US, I'd still want a V8 or I''d go for the used 70 series. But good luck regardless, I hope it works!

US needs to be 25 years or older

Canada is 15 years.....

So if you are in the US......the newest you can do is 1991....

Unless you happen to fall into a few certain exemptions .....it wot happen

If you were able to, I'd go for a 105 or 70 series....

Early 80's are fair game

Still can't be done man... also the 6 cylinder isn't more powerful than our v8, also the ifs is the same as in the states, also, also...

Keep in mind that GCC models come with the 240hp 1fz,1hz and 2uz, rear diff lock or LSD as an option on all model years, two different part time 4wd systems, manual trans, winch, center console fridge, double din with normal hvac controls as well as navigation on 03+ years, sub tank, cloth seats, steel wheels, barn doors, trunk mounted spare, auto or manual hubs etc....

Still doesn't make much sense to me when I can get a cruiser with all nicer stuff here in the states. Mine has 230hp v8, LSD, double din, all that other stuff I can buy here or build myself. Hence why I don't see why you'd go through all the trouble to import one. Don't need cloth, steel wheels, barn doors, or manual tranny. I bought a luxury land cruiser for $12k and won't ever look back.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

P.S it looks like it is going to be easier for us to import other vehicles thanks to trump.

You can pick up a nice 100 stateside for $7k-$12k. Why not buy one here?

Beauty! Send them to me in the Great White North, eh!

never saw a 100 in saudi that I would want to bring back. From Bahrain to Kuwait there is not such thing as a good 100. imho
bring the nissan in the pic.

OP.. look at the FJ Cruisers' if you want to bring something back and plan on doing offroading. I found them cheaper in Dubai for some reason. Probably b/c the folks there didnt want smaller cars. But as you know FJC are amazing as well.

Why would you go through all that trouble to import one of these? If you really want a 100 that has a hood ornament or goofy ground effects, just order that stuff from Ebay. There's plenty of LHD 100s stateside.

More importantly I don't think anyone on this forum would want a Cruiser from Dubai. They aren't known to take the best care of their vehicles and they're known for playing in the sand. No thanks.

the 2UZ is one of the best engines Toyota has ever made. They go forever. Why you would want to import something to drip oil all over your garage that also comes with a weight, cooling, performance, and reliability penalty is beyond me, but it is, of course, your money and time...

As an EU owner of a GCC-spec 100 (V8) I would just like to say that there is not necessarily anything wrong with a Dubai or UAE vehicle. There are large numbers of them to choose from, and they can be exceptionally well taken care of, by official dealers that follow Toyota-spec service schedule. They are not all sand taxi's, in fact huge numbers of them are owned by expats that use them to drive the kids to school, much like many Stateside examples.

That said: exporting them to EU makes sense as non-diesel 100's are thin on the ground there. Plus, you can get some cool gold details, and the pearl white color was never offered in the EU. Downside is certain options are not standard there, such as heated seats and mirrors. Center console fridge is probably standard.....

Export to the USA is a non-starter from the get go.

Even of you could get one on the road (you can't), why would you want to?

Wasn't trying to say that they're all sand taxis, but from several examples on mud, there can sometimes be surprises despite it being a "clean" rig. And especially not seeing the vehicle in person before purchase I would be a little weary. I was mainly trying to say "why buy a vehicle that you probably won't be able to inspect pre-purchase when you can get one here in the states for cheaper and you know more of its history/background."

99-06 IFS V8 is eligible for import.

Make mine a 2006.... 2UZ-FE, 5-speed manual w/coolbox, barn doors, non-navi, cloth interior, no sunroof, cyclonic airbox, sub tank and rear locker... I guess I'll take White paint too. ;)

Those things are what make me want to get them. Plus I saw some on YouTube and if you take a look you will see how strong they are and how fast they are. They have something that the USA version doesn't have. There is a totally different feeling in them. Also they are not that smooth like here. That's the reason I want them. The modifications and power added to them make me want to buy them. They have a different feeling than USA versions. But I do have to say it is hard to import here. I have to put all those modifications on a 100. Plus a diesel. Maybe even solid axles. I don't know what you guys feel. But how is a Sequoia. 2001-2004 is the model year I owned. What about putting diesels in a Sequoia. What is one thing I should buy a Sequoia for? Is off-roading with one good? Do they drive better? Do they have good suspension? Should I stick with a 80 instead? Are they better for off-roading?

The new gen 1fz is much more reliable and powerful than the older gen. FYI
