I am getting sick of seeing Toyota's add for cash for clunkers on TV crushing a 60. Now I go to my site (mud), a site dedicated to preserving these beauties and the same add is running above me as i type. WTF? Toyota couldn't have picked a different vehicle?
An old Camry was next to me yesterday at the light. Blowing smoke, rusted, diff. colors.Use a different car on THIS SITE or drop this ad on this site. 2 cents Mike
Actually CruiserDan saw a nice 1994 80 with 114k miles get turned in on this program. I don't know how it works but the truck being from Az it had to be worth more than the 4500 crush price.
The way the law is written I think only Land cruisers qualify from the Toyota line up. It's has to have a combined MPG rating less than 18 and be of a certain age.
Anyway, who cares. So what if the add is crushing some photochopped 60 looking thing. You sensitive guys need to grab a box of Kleenex, have a good cry and get it out of your system already.
I am sensitive to waste, wasteful spending and the continuing to do so. What about the east coasts garbage barges floating around with no where to go? I love Boston but the last time I was there I would not describe its harbor as clean,Houstons harbor down here is the same. Our old ways have to change.Recycle 2 cents Mike
Unfortunately, I've seen some cruisers sell for under that price...including 80's, so now we all know that the base price for any running, drivable cruiser is $4500
what you have to remember is local Toyota dealers have add companys make the commercials for the area
I personally want to throw the remote at the tv whenever I see a toyota add there f*#$ing pathetic especially those horable prius adds the only good adds were for the Tacoma a few years back
What makes me sick is that it's my money driving a program with pretty dubious end results.................er, no, I take that back. It's my money being pissed away.
Took me a couple commercials to realize the 60 was shortened. Anyhow the commercial fits perfectly with Toyota's attitude. Corporate is interested in the heritage and history for only one reason.........................to sell new stuff, with the highest profit possible.
Apparently it's successful cuz they said the money for that program is going to dry up faster than they expected. At least some Jeeps are getting crushed too which is the bright side

So funny story. My parents have been keeping an 97 Heep Grand Cherocar to tow their boat a handfull of times a year. I just didn't make sense for them to keep it. Then decide they want to make use of the cash for clunkers.
I look into it an find they meet all the requirements and they we research the Camry they want to buy. Check it out on Tuesday and make a deal. They were supposed to go back and bring the title to the Jeep on Wednesday night. Now my Dad can't find the title.
Then the it comes out yesterday that the program might be out of money. Looks like my parents might have lost their chance to turn a worthless pos into $4500.
it's only suspended, it's been "successful" beyond anyone's predictions, so they need to get the paperwork under control, then decide to fund it further or not.
I personally think its sad....not so much from a car stand point, but really the only ones making money on this is the dealership. Look at the pricing compared to a few months ago...willing to bet the average pricing increased somewhere around 4500.00 hmmm...wonder who really is making out on these "deals"? I was looking at some ford adds...the same trucks they were listing 8 to 9k off a few months back, now they are listing as "we are matching the government 4500.00 for your clunker" Yupp, big savings there huh? Keep your Jeep, as they are really getting nothing for it.... if we all toss in 25 bucks maybe we can crush it at the FG? good entertainment
