I went to the parts counter at the local Toyota dealer and they wanted $ 375.00. I told the parts guy I could get it for 287.50 from www.TRDsource.com and asked if he could match the price. The parts guy said, "no."
I contacted the Parts Manager and he matched the price. When buying from a Dealer, they make it difficult. Since the Dealer would match the prices from TRDsource I ordered rock rails, air filter and the skid plate.
You guys should also try www.toyotapartsoutlet.com They are a brick and mortar dealership in NC. I got the mats for $63, their prices beat anyone I can find...including my dealer
about he bling plate... It does not look durable at all.. but the engine skid plate.. that comes if you don't order the "bling" plate.. it is really durable... it has taken quite a beating now... rocks/dirt-rocks/poles/logs and powerlines.. and It only has a tiny little dent.. though the bling plate keeps all the mud from going between the engine skid plate and the engine itself

You guys need to discover what the other sections have known for several years and that is to call CruiserDan (parts manager @ American Toyota) for all your Toyota parts and accessories. Those of you that think you are getting good deals and good discounts will very likely find that your dealers use a price escalator to jack-up the price and then they *might* give you a discount back to list price. We have seen this over and over in the other sections.
It won't hurt to call and get his price; the call is toll-free. (1-800-432-6668) You can also PM Dan for price quotes. He may not know the FJC as well as other vehicles but it won't be long before he will have all the key part numbers committed to memory.
Dan is a member of our local Cruiser club and a personal friend but if you will check around you will find many here on 'Mud that share my opinion of doing business with Dan. He is also a 'Mud sponsor, donates his personal time and gifts to events like CM, and he is a genuine Cruiserhead.

Speaking from 6 weeks of experence on the skid plates you are better off getting a custom one made of good steel or better aluminum. The stock and TRD ones are good for causal 'wheeling, but have not held up for the central team. We had some made in Denver of 1/4 inch plate (3/16 plate would work just as well, but we do put the truck in the hands of people that have no experence with the FJ and our clearence issues) to ward off the rocks as we 'wheel with a stock height vechicle. The front diff hangs down lower then the rest of the supports in the front of the truck, this can lead to damage to the front diff and oil pan. Of course your experence of how you 'wheel your truck may be different then ours. In the near future all the trail teams trucks will sport 1/4 inch plate in the front. Not light but real functional. Now with a lift of a few inches, this worry goes away a bit. But does not change the fact the diff hangs lower then the supports in the front.
Check with your local fab shop as to cost and time to make one. later robbie

We currently in Crawfords Campground in NC. I will try to have a couple of photo's later today and post them hopefully tomorrow if the weather is good(satellite connection. Ours is not fancy and could be a little tighter, but I prefered to have some space between the skid and the dangley bits, just incase of a hard hit. later robbie
