Landman2000
SILVER Star
Hey guys,
I took my 2000 LC to my local Toyota dealer on Friday to have a new OEM ignition cylinder and key installed and programmed. Waited for 3 hours on Friday until they finally told me they couldnt get the programming to stick. They decided to keep it overnight and today called Toyota and were told there was a bulletin that the 98-2000 LC were no longer supported by the immobilizer reset and that they now require the internal ECM immobilizer chip to be reprogrammed. They said this can only be done by a few lock smiths approved by TMS. They included a copy of the bulletin (see below) and a list of a few approved locksmiths. Thankfully, one is only about an hour and a half away from me in Georgia.
I’m curious if anybody has ever heard of this, and if there are other options such as having my ignition cylinder tumblers rebuilt by a local locksmith?
My ignition sticks quite a bit and I’m afraid one day it will leave me stranded.
