i am facing a problem regards towing with automatic height control, some say use an equalizer hitch, others say you dont need it, i have towed without just using an anti-sway control but if i adjust it for more control the height control will go to low, i would like input please from all who tow, what they use, and any comments.

thanks for reading this post

I tow a 4-5k boat with 200-250 lb tongue weight behind my LX. My trailer does not have sway control bars, but my vehicle does have an equalizing hitch (at least I think so, I have an aftermarket assembly that attaches to frame and thus equalizes the weight to the attachment points.)

I usually turn my AHC off while towing, as I don't want to overwork the system. This produces good results for me. Hope this little bit helps.

It'll still revert to "N" mode when off, though, right? (i.e., you can't put it in "L" at, say, 10mph and expect it to stay in "L" even at 60mph with the switch off)

Have towed up to 3000 lb (300 lb tongue weight) with plain hitch, no anti-sway or equalizer.

AHC / auto-level function works great. Left all settings at nominal (standard).

No problems - no significant sway. Ride gets firmer due to AHC/AL pumping up rear, plus input from trailer load, I reckon.

Now, it may be that if you approach the max towing limit of 6500 lb, there may be enough sway to consider. Dunno.

i will be towing 5500lbs, in fact i have towed so i will need a anti-sway bar i just wanted to see how other members handle this situation, some say if you instal an equalization system, then that will counteract the height control, and my anti-sway sends my height control into low, it towed ok but i wanted more sway control , but increasing the tow-tite friction control knocks my height to low.
