Has anyone flat-towed their fj40 with the new Tacoma? I am interested in using mine to tow to/fro the trails, mechanic, etc. I know they are rated at 6500 max, but is this going to be hard on the Trans, body, engine, etc. I have a manual trans in mine.

I have not towed an fj40, but I flat towed my 96 tacoma this past weekend with my 06 Tacoma. The truck did great and was up to the task, I would say give yourself plenty of breaking distance and take it easy and you should be fine. I ran between 65-70 in 4th gear(auto) @ 2500-2700 rpms. My 96 Taco weighs 4270lbs.

Is that with a 4 or 6 cylinder?

Great, looks like I'm gonna try it this weekend. Still need to get the wiring done, though.

I towed my FJ40 on a full trailer with my 97 3.4 5spd Tacoma. It didn't like it but it did it. 600 miles round trip. I'm sure that the 07 would be up to the task.

Flat tow the all the time with my 96. No drivetrain issues. Take wide turns and don't turn too fast-light back end will skid.

If you can get a trailer, do it.
