The underside had a layer of bed liner that was applied later in life...since Bed liner did not exist in 1967

It came off in big flakes leaving a very nice underbelly

The under side after. I just took off the part that came off easy and none from the frame. I guess I'll get some and re spray

Super light. People F them up by modifying them so much they should have started from scratch.

I did that once.

They are perfect companions for people with SUVs and no pickups.

I may pull the spare tire jack from under my 60 and mount the tire under the box.

That said, I'm sure this little guy could use some tongue weight.

I may put it here. Especially since my new tongue is longer than Gene Simmons'

Man those things got painted by so many motor pool sergeants during their time in service. Don't think a repaint was part of turning them in to DRMO. Look at all of the Deuces that were turned in and auctioned off in their original paint.

Looks like the start of a good time!!

That is a helluva overhang on that trailer. How long is that thing?

Thats what she said. 34ft.

My M416 had about 22 layers of brushed on (no doubt lead based) paint. I had to have it professionally sandblasted to properly expose and treat the rust. I've been resisting the urge to put a hinged lid on mine. For now it has a $30 heavy vinyl tarp. I extended the tongue about 8" to make backing it up a little more manageable (so I could at least see it out my rear window). Saved all the orig ID plates before sending it to the blaster and reinstalled them after paint.

Most likely CARC coating. (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating). It's fairly safe except when sanding and welding. Protect yourself from the dust and fumes. I wish I could get my hands on some today. I love the stuff

You can do a lot with a wire brush and a can of zinc chromate primer.

Damn you Nolen, now I want one.

Don't fall for it. This is by design. This is a slick marketing campaign disguised as a build thread.

Surprisingly the frame was not coated like the tub was and all I had to do to it was wirebrush and paint. The wheels were painted the same as the tub and that's the reason they still look the way they do...didn't want to spend the money or time. When I mount new tire I must just put some flat black Rustoleum over 'em.
