Supposed to be borrowing a buddys car hauler tomorrow. Flat tow wasn't as stable as I would have liked so I scrapped that plan. Just gotta get a look at his trailer and make sure it's ready for the trip.

Wish we had tought about it. You could have hauled mine back with ya. You takin' half ass?

What a terrible thing to say!

Has anyone ever built a small trailer? I'm looking at building a custom gravity fed smoker and obviously want it mobile. I guess what I'm asking is, would it be cheaper to buy a small trailer or build one assuming I can source parts such as leaf springs and axles?

TSC has all the "trailer pieces" you'll need and at good prices too.

Hazlehurst has the closest Tractor Supply.

Not sure it would not be cheaper than buying a trailer and modifying....

Especially since you don't have a shop.....or a welder......

Well I obviously have access to something if I'm planning on building my own smoker. Speaking of, how many tubes of this stuff do you think I will go through?

He's, I have builtseveral trailers and smokers as well. You can saves fewbucks bybuilding your own but..... You will be working for just about free. Unless what you want is very one-off and custom I would suggest buy and modify.

That said, if you are looking forward to the experience youshould go for it. It is rewarding to build something you design and see how well it works. If you do, I suggest the rubber torsion axles for a pit. Easy to design and work with and give a much better ride for the finished product as long as it's not too heavy.

Bossman you have built everything! That said... why didn't you take two unicorn bicycles on that boat you built?!

Ohhhh Snap!

I'm more of a kettle corn kinda guy than a unicorn kinda guy.

For some reason I was thinking more along the lines of funnel cakes...they just sound more appetizing...
