towing 62 across the country

For me its a no brainer. For that amount of cash I would either store / sell the 62 and buy a cruiser in country.

And a lot of parts are becoming impossible to find for these under the hood at least. And fenders are unobtainable from the dealer.

Yet, isn't that why we drive these things? The fact that Toyota parts are available worldwide?

Like Darin said, in the US, parts availability for these old LCs are drying up fast. More and more things are going NLA. For example, 2F pistons from Toyota just went NLA like I was telling you the other day. Pistons are a usually wear item. That means that unless there are good aftermarket pistons available, every single running 2F globally just went up in value a bit IMO.

Honestly, I drive a Land Cruiser because of the Land Cruiser community. Without TLCA clubs like ONSC, GCLCNY and Bluegrass Cruisers, and of course IH8MUD, I might have a built suburban and wheel that.

Back on topic.

Terry, it's up to you. If it was my truck, it'd be a no brainer for me. I'd drive it across the country and then ship it to HI and drive it around over there. However, I tend to be emotionally attached to my Land Cruisers and never want to part with them.

Do we have a location for your HAMOM yet?

Selling it is not an option, as it would probably go to someone in the club and they'd lift it and wheel it and bang it all to hell. I wouldn't sleep well knowing that. :)

At this point, I am leaning towards driving it and shipping, but I still have two months before I really have to pull the trigger, so I'll continue to mull it over. As always, I appreciate the input.

Johnny, it'll probably be at my in-laws in Apex, but they just got home from a vacation and I haven't had a chance to ask.

Terry, what needs gettin done for your HAMOM session and when do you think it'll happen. I'm in need of one too and wanted to do it early November. We should try to have a big one at a single location.

I don't have a bunch of stuff, but there are things that need a second pair of hands or smarter minds. I had suggested to Johnny that we have a HAMOM that isn't a bunch of major stuff, but more of a maintenance type thing. We had talked about doing it Oct 12, but if Johnny isn't put out, I could do it the weekend of Nov 2nd. I'm tapped for the rest of the month. I guess there could be two?

I'm inclined to say Nov 2. I'm gonna get as much done as I can but there will be a good project I'll need help with. My list is long.
