Yea they get real nice... I'm partial to these, but not willing to drop the $53k on one!

Chalet RV - Camper Photos

Wow thats nice  I've been glancing at a few and can't get over the cost of these truck campers they're the same price as some fifth wheels and more than the trailers  it don't make since to me :meh: I figured for 20K you could pick up a nice truck camper and gooseneck but looks like I was way off.

I liked this one and a few of their other models.
Eagle Cap Truck Camper Model 1160 | Camper Floor Plan

My plan is to haul a 40 ft gooseneck with 2 rigs & a camper on it to complete my redneck ensemble..

So i think a dually at the very least is what i need.

I agree, but that'll be a sweet ensemble though :D If the wife keeps camping and using the RV like we did this past year I'll look to move from the RV to similar. My issue will be finding a truck camper large enough for the family of 4 & dog. At the look of these truck campers though I may come out cheaper looking for a small used fifthwheel camper and transplanting it on a gooseneck. I really like Pauls trailer it sits lower to the ground.

Yea that's a sweet rig indeed Paul! This is the first time I see it

Yeah, His rig is Nice, The only thing he failed to show was the Beautiful Blue interior.. or what I know he said he had ordered a replacement, Wonder if it ever came in... :D

Yeah, that trailer is Nice. It's very comfortable.. :D Fits a tent just fine.. :D

It was a little crowded with all 3 of us at Sisily, but honestly a LOT more rummy than I thought.

One optoin would be to get a low trailer like Mr. Paul. But instead of a Tall Goose, get a low deck, and a King pin. Then take a regular travel trailer, Lob off the storage under the front, and put that where the front deck is. Walla, you've got a larger camper, for minimal loss of space...

This is a plagerized thought from mr. PK him self...

What's up with everybody getting Fords... Tish a shame them newers, I rather the look of a squarebody anymake, over any of the new vehicles...

THanks
Cody

What class of CDL are you going to present at the inspection station?

Isnt there a weight limit for class D?

Yeah, if the trailer is over a 10,000lb rating or the combo is over 26,000, you are considered commercial regardless of actual usage or frequency...from DOT's FAQ.

Sorry, have not got on my computer at all yet this week.

But to answer your question yes it is the 7.3 power stroke turbo diesel.

Kinda concerned about the mileage it is going to get, has a 4.10 rear end and it just seems alot tighter wound than I expected it to be. A friend of a friend claimed his like mine onlt got about 12-14 mpg. The proceeds to tell me his was a 4x4 lifted on swampers with an automatic. real valid comparison huh? Has some mud tires on the back right now but when I get back swapping in some mild all terrain tires on it and getting it aligned. Has a 6 position flip chip in it I have not messed with much yet except to find out position 3 wake the truck right the hell up. Going to try. And pull the chip to find out the manufacturer in hopes they have records of what was burnt to each position. Depending on the cost of returning the chip I would kind of like to have a valet mode and a no start position added.

Should be fine, truck probably weighs around 10K and the trailer around 7k.:meh:

non commercial non ag Rv is personal they are not under control of ICC DOT regs

the real legal prob is if you are towing greater GVW that you tow rig is listed for on your info sticker you will be considered over loaded & in dodo!

Ryan has the hs straight exaust and hs pro Computer kit. Thingy and his truck has more power and. Runs alot cooler and went from 14 mpg to about 20. On hwy and 16 pullin. Oil stays about 50 %cleaner He loves it and he just got the hs air cleaner set up For it so we will se if that helps. They have up dates every so often for their stuff easy to do.

The Ford that jrob had wasn't rated to pull the load he was trying to pull. With his old camper (much lighter) his 40 and mine the total package (inc truck) weighed almost 26k lbs. The GMC dually should handle it fine. We'll see in a few weeks!

Hmm. I'm hearing conflicting stuff on the CDL issue then. I've been told that truck and trailer are not considered RV unless registered as RV (ie - motorhome or truck and travel trailer) and that CDL rules apply to anything not registered as RV. I may make some calls. My dad sold the trailer that I normally use and he won't let me use the new one because it is over 10,000lbs. I have a class B permit and just need to take my driving test. I've done air brakes, etc (although I wouldn't need them for this). The prob is that I no longer have access to a truck.

I'd like to eventually get a newer 5.9 and a gooseneck and don't want to get on the bad side of the law (I don't need them looking at anything anyway).

Sweet looking ride . Does it get in single digits when pulling the trailer?

at present yup

but with the leaking HPOP & boost only getting to 13 suppressed it did what it did.
not that any of the inclines are steep but could accelerate on them all while in 6th

the HPOP lost 2 gallons up & back to Superlift, trailer won`t rust for sometime:)
when I would stop leave a saucer sized spot on the ground
