I may be helping out a friend and driving his RV from Charlotte to Seattle next month and tow the jetta behind it.

Are there any places out there that rents tow dollies besides Uhaul?

Penske and Budget do but you need to rent one of their trucks to do it and the Uhaul quote seems a tad high to me but it may be the only option.

How much is the U Haul quote? Used Tow Dollies are available fairly cheaply on CL here (a quick look shows $500 used to $1100 new). It might be possible to buy a used one, use it for a week or so, and sell it there for less of a loss than the Uhaul quote ...

I know of nobody else who rents them.

Meh the quote wasn't terribly high just a lot higher than the last time I looked at it a year ago.... was around $150 last time now around $284. Not a huge deal just thought their may be a cheaper option out there.... flat tow is a no go on a jetta manual

I'd say borrow mine but there's the matter of the return trip....

LOL... shame the 60 isn't out the way, then you could fly out and tow it back.

Yeah i'm most likely just going to do Uhaul... price isn't terrible just a huge increase over a year ago.

At least if u have an issue, with uhaul's trailer there is support.

Good luck with that support.

Driving down from Boston our trailer tire had a leak. Noticed it 5 min from a U-Haul store. They wouldn't fix it or would they exchange a good tire from one of their trailers...

Fix a flat went in (even though U-Haul said not to use it). Headed on the road. An hour later it's almost flat so we pull over and call support.

Takes an hour for the tire guy to show up. He gets here and says "is tt for the trailer? They didn't tell me it was for a trailer. I don't carry those tires with me". Hour and a half later, he fixes it. "The sidewall had a patch in it, shouldn't have been on the trailer."

After calls and emails back and forth to U-Haul, they offered $100 cash ($900 rental) or 30% off next rental. I charged the card back and let credit card company deal with that.

Ummm - never mind.

However if u buy a CL trailer - it's YOUR trailer if there are any issues.

I'll sell mine for $350.00
Bought it to tow the Jeep behind the 62...yeah...that ain't happening, besides, I like wheeling the 62 better anyway. I'll get pics if you're interested. I'll meet you half way in Columbia.
