Just bought a used Tow bar for the LX 450 and need to know what bolt size to get?

Did search the FAQ, did not get anything.

THanks,

do a search in the regular threads. If you mean the hitch receiver that bolts to the lower side of the frame rails, that would be the same bolt size as for the tow loops. Plenty of info on that out there, I would think.

If you are talking about the bolts that go into the frame, I crawled underneath and removed one of the existing ones. On my 97 there were a couple already in the frame. I removed them, checked to see that they would be long enough with the additional steel they would go through (I can't remember if they were long enough or not) and took them to the parts store and bought the appropriate bolts.

M 12 x 1.25 for the frame rail, big bolts 45mm long best to get 50 mm

Thanks to all,

Tried to search, must be doing it wrong. Will read up on the how too's of searching the sites....

fine threads on biggish bolts like these are not as easy to find around in local places, typically, but you can get them online fairly easily. Some less common shapes like eyebolts I was not able to find in small quantities. (Would love to find some that fit the seats boltdowns... anybody?)

Mc masters has them in bags of 10 for $9 or so

Kyle,

picture no worky. But I think it will illustrate my point as YOU'RE likely posting a picture of a Tow Bar that I'm thinking of while others are thinking of a Tow Hitch Receiver and still no input from Bucky hisself to clear it up....

DougM,

Great I added NO value what so ever to this thread.

The blind leading the bind.:)

Thanks for telling me though.:)

Kyle,

Actually nobody added any value here. This was a perfect example of a thread where the original poster asked a vague question that really had no answer. The only answer to a question like this is: Please clarify.

DougM
