Any one running Total Chaos upper control arms ? I was reading a thread about the Uni-Ball making the steering tight , just wondering if anyone running there stuff , I did see a few post about Camburg but no problems , there Uni Ball is a 1/4 bigger not sure if that makes a difference .

I ran both on my 4Runner. The Camburgs did not have as much built in caster and I could not achieve the alignment I was looking for. I also had a premature uniball failureeven after proper installation at 10k miles.

I went the TC route and they have been flawless for 50k miles. Only started squeaking once and I added the TriFlo lube to the joint and all was good. Does not change steering feel at all. What posters might have commented on is the increased resistance from running more caster.

TC is the best. Stay away from SPC even though they’re recommended on here for their price.

I have a the TC rear adjustable links and have used them in the past are a great product , I Ike the TC quality have never used any of there upper of lower control arms with Uni-ball , I did see a post on here a nice build of a 200 but the owner complained about a return steering problem using TC upper and lower Uni-ball .
Is rust a issue using the Uni-Ball ?

No. They’re stainless. Mine have survived many Chicago winters.

I know you’re interested in TC but my ICON upper and lower have been flawless to date and zero rust or squeaks.

I like the ICON stuff , just too much Aluminum for my liking , I would have though both Camburg and Chao’s would have just made some sort of Plastic Or rubber cap and if they wanted to get crazy a screw on cap would not have taken much effort .
TC on there site states UNI-ball is stainless but Camburg does not .
I all ready have the TC adjust rear links so most likely order a set of the arms , I don’t drive my LC in salt , got to much dough in my ride , my big thing is sand , I’ll come up with some cap to keep basic crap out that I can pop off and clean the UNI-ball , the way they look they just invite dirt and debris in to the top of ball .
I did see ICON does make a sealed joint replacement for the 1“ UNI-ball but that adds another 300 bucks to the TC arm installation ... its only money ... LOL

I run the camburg units and my steering does not return automatically when its cranked all the way over. That is a function of caster and doesn't bother me at all. I am running the upper uni-ball units. UCA's all do basically the same thing and different solutions fit different needs. I am happy with mine.

I seen the video of Filthy before ... I enjoyed watching again ... wealth of knowledge , I think SPC was promoted a little more than they deserve . I'm still doing a bit of research , I sent Nitro a email about there arms , looks like they use OEM rubber bushings which are good , wanted to know about there arm steel , where they were made and what ball joint was used .
Still browsing , my worst case scenario is TC with Icon joint , or OME still doing some research on them .

Dobinsons is another option with triple 5 Japanese made ball joints.

I've been running nothing but TC UCA's for years and I couldn't be happier. I have a habit of applying a few drops of TriFlo to the uniball every 5,000 miles when I rotate my tires and change the engine oil and I have never had one squeak.

I ordered a set of Total Chaos UCA , I have the TC rear adjustable links and there quality was exceptional , biggest selling point for me was the Chromoly material and quality construction . I did consider , nitro gear and there tech got back to me , was not too impresses they with there generic answers .
I did like the Dobinsons look like a quality arm , I did not consider SPC , they just seem cheap outside of the adjustability .
I also got a set of the Icon Delta Joint replacements for the UNI-Ball going to install with the Delta Joint conversion in the TC arms .

Any pics with your new ICON delta joint in the TC UCA? How are you liking it?

Interested in this as well

unfortunately parts have been coming so slow were into the warmer weather and still waiting on a rear bumper . I’m going to hold on my build till after the summer , I usually don’t drive the LC in the winter with all the salt , missed my envelope not having all my build parts .

I've got 45k on my SPC and no issues with it. I know they had issues years ago but I bought mine in 2017 after the switch to a greaseable ball joint and anecdotally they've been just fine for me. I like the idea of being able to swap the UCA ball joint in a half hour without a press as well when it one day gives out.

If you want extended travel then TC seems like the way to go.

TBH I'm not a huge Icon fan. I'd love to see a strength analysis of their aluminum UCA with something made of steel. Presumably if it's 2x thicker it should be a bit stronger and lighter than steel, but it's double the cost and I've seen too many bent aluminum RCAs not to mention rear shock mount failures to trust their suspension components.
