About 3-4 trucks heading out there for an afternoon. Here's the basic plan - we will modify on the fly if we run into any obsturctions.

Meet at McDonalds in Catalina at 10:15 -> Hope to pull out by 1030 (my daughter has a soccer game). Going in at the Rail-X Ranch Rd.

Expect ~4-5 hr trip. It's about 20 Miles. We can either go out to Marana, or loop back around by Bass Springs.

All are welcome, and comments on the route (especially if not possible) would be greatly appreciated.

See You - Rocky

John Schotts rated the trail a 2.5 with 3.0 on some of the side trips.

There's a link around somewhere.

I hope it's interesting, but I don't expect it to be brutal.

Anyway - see you in Catalina at 10:15!

Great Trip - Pix coming soon.

Went in at Catalina, out at Marana.

4 Trucks in all - FJ-40 / FJ-Cruiser (archtucsonfj) / Jeep / Disco

Saw John's petroglyphs,
A Gila Monster,
Challenging Wheeling
3-4x Wrong Turns
Tremendous fun

PS. The road to west of Bass Springs (Purple route on my map in Post #1) is private property, and is blocked off.

Yes - we made a little bit of a detour by following the "Good" Road (in front of the Rock House) to the West. We ended up on a mountain spur - you could see Marana, but there was no way to get there from where we were.

A little back-tracking, and we spotted the road in the canyon heading out.

It was a fun adventure. It took us a little longer than it could have / should have, but that was due to the "exploring"!

Rocky, you look like your getting close to doing some fender polishing here

Looks like a fun trip, wish I could have made it.

I was thinking about a "Front Spring Flip" - I keep banging my shackles into rocks & things. But based on these pictures, that also means:

Cut / Modified Front Fenders
Shock Mount Changes (Minor, but means more fender cutting).

Maybe I should go to 29" tires (j/k)

You might think about doing what I've been trying to do for the last few years and tossing some of Downey's (or comp), 4" lift springs under there. That way I figure shorter rock bashers can go in the front.
