Does anybody know of a place I could rent a torque wrench for the 305 ft lbs I need for my crank bolt? I figured it would be easy to rent one but I can not find a place that does that.
Thanks in advance.
Tony

This is just a guess but I'd get a breaker bar and put one of my friends on it along with the :princess:. I think you'd have it.

Sorry i don't know where to find a torque wrench with that much poundage.

I just asked my buddy that tips the scale at 298 if he could stand on it and bounce :bounce: :bounce2: for me... I got the look.

I called my neighbor that is a manager at a trucking company and he said his mechanic has one that goes to 610!! NICE!! Looks like I will 'get er done' this weekend!!

Now THAT is a torque wrench!!

Anybody need some tires? :hhmm:

Helpful Tip #25

According to "A Guide to Fix You VW for a Complete Idiot" It says to put a pencil mark on the nut and the crank (in the case of a VW it's the flange Nut and Flywheel) than take a large hammer and chisel and beat the hell out of one of the angles on the nut. If the line moves put another mark and hammer on it until the line doesn't move. That's EXACTLY 350 ft lbs. Try to do this by destroying only three of the angles on the nut. You may need the other 3 to take it off. No need to thank me – happy to help. :D

It looks like rust.

I got the damn thing apart and back together but the torque wrench is 3/4" drive and my 30mm is 1/2" drive. No biggie I thought, I can just run to sears and get me a 30mm in 3/4" drive or a 3/4" to 1/2" step down but nooooooo, they do not have either one!!!! Now I am stuck trying to find the tools I need for this one f(*^#(*%(*%ing bolt to get it back together.

Anybody in the Phoenix area have a 30mm 3/4" drive socket or 3/4" to 1/2" step down I could borrow for to tighten this damn thing up?

DONE! Thanks for the tip!
